The silence from both the Warriors and the McKinnon basketball club does not augur well for the ‘compromise’ that got over the line at last council meeting on the casting vote of Mayor Hyams. The deadline for ‘agreement’ was listed as the 16th January. Now twelve days later there is deathly silence from both groups. Hence we can only surmise that the deal has fallen through – either because ‘suitable’ playing venues for the Warriors on the Saturday weren’t acceptable to them, or to the location owners the McKinnon club offered.
Whichever, it again highlights the total balls up by the administration and councillors. It basically leaves the Warriors with the prospect of filling all the venues, paying out big bucks and praying like hell that they can cover costs or get someone else to cover the costs for them via a ‘takeover’. In the end GESAC may not be the home of either the Warriors or McKinnon.

Don’t be so naive. Warriors glowed with pride early on – even using the council logo. Now all is quiet. If they got what they wanted then they’d be screaming it from the rafters. There’s a hitch somewhere along the line and it’s about time that people were told the truth about what’s going on. The deadline has passed well and truly.

Alls quiet on the GESAC front, I can hear the wind blowing through the I beams.
Paul Burke must be on annual leave, he will be back soon and the stuff-ups will be forth coming, you shouldn’t have to wait long now.
Go watch some TV, or waste water in the garden.
Or feel sorry for Julia having been so traumatised by the First People on Oz Day.
Lyndon B Johnston said, and Julia should have heeded – “It’s probably better to have them inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in”
Will labour ever learn? I doubt it …..

McKinnon Basketball Association asked for more time so as they could meet with other stakeholders….the schools. It easy to agree to terms at GESAC but the job then is to negotiate a break of contract with the schools so that they can accomodate a new tenant each Saturday.
Hopefully the schools will welcome the Warriors with open arms but this ultimately may be the stumbling block Jamie didn’t figure on.

Says a lot then about the compromise and whether Hyams and Burke even bothered to suss out all the potential problems before they got their resolution up. Either way they can then claim – look we did our bit – it ain’t our fault – it’s those nasty schools or basketball clubs. Being the lawyer you’d have to think that all Hyams and Lipshutz and the gang were pushing is that if you don’t vote for this then they can sue council. Scare tactics and bullshit like usual and sucker councillors like Forge fell for it.
