A year has come and gone since the notorious ‘agreement’ between Council and the MRC and not one little peep of any substance from Lipshutz & co throughout this entire time. Not a word about the failure to adhere to the ‘conditions’ such as removal of fences or limiting the number of events. The Special Committee has not met or reported and neither has the Racecourse Advisory Committee – apart from the centre of the racecourse shemozzle.
So, has the MRC diligently been working on any of their promises? Have they successfully ‘beautified’ what was supposed to be a public park in the much heralded land swap with the State Government? Has the MRC in any shape or form fulfilled its end of the bargain? And what has our dear old Council been doing about any of this?
The slide show we present below shows the area designated as the land swap and its supposed rejuvenation into a fabulous open space/park area. Residents can see exactly how instead of a park, we have been granted something akin to a rubbish dump replete with overgrown and unkempt vegetation.
The silence from Council on any of these issues is deafening.

when you look at the site how big does it seem? Would it be the area of Glen Huntly Park. Can you acccess it directly from GH park or only from the mad roundabout.

Whilst I am disapointed with Lipshutz and Hyams in their handling of this matter, the one who frustrates me most is Pilling. The State party Greens all the way to Greg Barber had achieved a lot in getting the racecourse finally opened up – only to have Pilling ride over the top in his support of C60. Then no follow up on the agreement that he heralded on his website. If he no longer wants to work for residents or support the policies of the Greens, he should just resign.

What about the State Liberals namely Southwick and the backflip he performed? Wait until the Labor party get a load of this. Danby is already onto it. Baillieu and his do nothing government.

oh yes I forgot about Danby. Everyone should remember to fill in the GP protest he has put in the letter box. Has Danby said anything about the Caulfield Race course saga. Does anyone know what the Jewish communities attitude is to the Caulfield Racecourse issue.

Anonymous, first with the news!

No reason for Newton and Lipshutz to get their balls in a knot. They’ve given the MRC exactly what they want. How long it takes to do anything they don’t give a stuff about and since the MRC is low on dough why should they worry anyway. They’re going full steam ahead with the c60 and 20 storey towers. That’s where they’re putting their money. Not into a little lousy park that is for residents.
You’re dead right about Pilling too. He’s sold out heaps of times to Newton and the gang. Getting to be deputy mayor is such a poor pay off.

Keeping residents up to date with what is happening in Glen Eira does not fit into the Newton ideology of non-accountable government. The community plan was supposed to be released in April, then it became May and in today’s Glen Eira News we’re told “early May”. It’s not in the agenda so that would make it the next council meeting which is LATE MAY! Then there’s the joke that has anything to do with gesac. December 1st has now become sometime in May, even though an April date was promised in last month’s Glen Eira News. No annoucement again. The racecourse issue has been total silence by council except for their incompetence in the 6 inch plot of land that required an application to hand over to the MRC. These bozos don’t even know how to do anything properly the first time around. That’s why we’re not told anything because they would have to admit to their continual stuff ups.

The fencing is so appropriate to everything the MRC does. Access was supposed to be unrestricted from early in the morning to around 5. Try and find a gate that isn’t locked and you’ll hit the jackpot. I just want to know what Council is doing about any of this stalling. A year down the track and we’re worse off than before.

The picture showing the entrance to the tunnel says it all. The side abutting MRC freehold land has been landscaped – the side abutting the much heralded “new park for Caulfield” is derelict. Once again the MRC and Council have joined forces to show the residents just how insignificant they are.

Maybe Frank Penhalluriack could ask the progress of the agreement? Oh no, that would be bullying. Stand by for the ombudsman!

Is it really that hard to provide the community an update on how things like the Racecourse agreement and GESAC are progressing? I guess it is when you’re clueless!
