Achievements included blaming a little old lady resident for own failings over Caulfield Racecourse and being new Spokeperson for the MRC.

Hyams needs another campaign manager if this is typical of the guff that is and will be produced. Why be on council? I can think of 4 good reasons: stupendous ego, first step into state politics, $90,000 plus as the two up mayor; power. That’s working for residents no doubt!

I don’t know how anyone can have the gall to put this kind of stuff out. To claim fighting overdevelopment when you’ve sold your soul to Newton and the mrc and voted for C60 and to do nothing with the planning scheme is unblievable.

Hyams is part of the problem not part of the solution to what ails Glen Eira. He’s been in for 6 years over two terms. He now wants another 4 years to help stuff up the place even further. People should ask him exactly what he’s achieved in this time. My recollection tells me that he’s responsible for the huge sums paid out on lawyers in the various reappointments of Newton going back to 2005 and now Penhalluriack. He continues to fight basic rights that are in all other councils such as notice of motion. He is the casting vote to give away basketball courts and his rudeness and snide comments about residents are legendary.

And just to add to this pretentiousness as caring for rsidents and what they think, Mr Hyams – FORGET IT! I know from personal experience in fighting against the Council on big traffic problems in local streets with speeding cars flowing into the local residential streets, creating unbelievable rat runs.

Ive been at it for over a year with dont give a damn Mrayor Hyams and his mates. One of whom (Mr Lipshutz) was supposed to assist a group of local residents with this matter and additionally against introduction of parking restrictions in a local street. The restrictions were introduced despite objections by the majority of street residents. Mr LIpshutz went on holidays at the most crucial time – Mr trusutworthy I hope you had a great holiday!

As a result of these parking restrictions no one now parks in the street – allowing the speedtsters a clear thoroughfare to speed at even greater speeds.

The people who used to park there were obviously workers who walked up for a train/tram to various work destinations. Well done GE Council- yet again real strategic future thinking traffic planning!

Instead of supporting attempts to reduce reliance on carbon polluting cars, you instead are forcing people onto the roads, adding to traffic congestion and increased pollution…..& it will get worse with higher population numbers increasing every year in the municilplaity.

We dont need more lawyers on Council- lawyers dont have the nous to run a business such as a council…

One of the key ingredients missing in the last current group of councillors, is taking on board community views in decision making – hugely lacking in GE!

Dont think we’re all dumbos in the municiplaity- Many of us have more than one Uni degree & run our own succesful busineeses or are in senior executive roles in the corporate and government worlds – dont try and pull the proverbial!

Mayor Hyams should be congratulated for continuing to espouse the Newton/party line. Despite all its flaws, half-truths and spin, the cliches are still very much present.

During his time in council, rates have not been reduced one iota. The pensioner rebate has been static even though the government has increased the subsidy, which of course means, that the “discount” provided by council has diminished and not been “maintained” as we are expected to believe. Major development applications have gotten the green light time and time again. Any attempt for progressive change has been stymied by Hyams and his group time and time again. The cover-ups and secrecy have been allowed to continue because of councillors such as Hyams. His time in council has not been exemplary. Granting him another 4 years would be a catastrophe especially for those residents of Bentleigh.

Owwwwwww my god. This is nauseating codswallop if there ever was any. Little ol Jamie, the toss of the coin mayor, the savior of Glen Eira. He couldn’t even get 5 votes to be mayor in his own right. Shows what the rest of them think of him. I really gotta laugh about low rates and gesac and the pavilions. The biggest laugh is about overdevelopment. Guess that boils down to interpretation of overdevelopment. For this bloke obviously 20 storeys with c60 and 8 storeys in Glen Huntly Rd isn’t overdevelopment – just proper development.

Re good example of traffic management, perhaps Kate and Mary could have a good look at Port Phillip’s vison and stargey on thsi crucial issue at
    http://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au/streets.htm

Perhaps you could then espouse your own stratgey on traffic palnning/management for GE so that voters will be in abetter position to judge what you stand for.

“Take advantage of new government planning zones……” I’m horrified what this could mean in light of Hyams unqualified support for the current state of affairs and his voting pattern on everything to do with developer applications. Even if height controls are brought in, it doesn’t fill me with confidence and also doesn’t explain why it’s taken ten years for Hyams to insist that Glen Eira has height controls. I can’t think of a single thing that this man has done to improve the lifestyle, environment, and services for the residents of Glen Eira.
