GLEN EIRA DEBATES/COMMENTS.
Please do not delete this replay (be fair) as I have disclosed my name and I am not writing under an anonymous burqa.
I have read with interest the various DEROGATORY 82 comments made by people who look down upon others. The gas tank is released before they go home.
This is attributed to lack of education in a proper private schools and top notch universities. I believe a well educated person who has travelled the world will not succumb to such comments and particularly a father or a mother who have dearth of time will not write the pooh material.
I thought the mission statement of the blog was “We are committed to facilitating genuine debate within Glen Eira…. This blog is not a debate but comments as can be shown that 86 comments have been received under the title of “NOT QUIET “TWO UP”! – with 86 comments instead of Debates.
PRIDE AND ENVY CAN CAUSE THE BEST OF MEN TO SUCCUMB TO THEIR INFLUENCE……..
I will respond in seriatim some of the interesting comments (debates?!) that have been posted in the topic under reference.
1. Comment on the blog: Hyams and Lobo! Glen Eira has reached a new low. Good reason to abolish local government.
Ans: Are you a “loco” in spanish? – You would like to abolish local government just because you dislike two people on the council? This shows that you do not put your cranium in gear before putting your fingers on keyboard in motion. You are indeed a Richard Cranium these two words I picked up from the blog. Very educational stuff on this blog!!!!
2. Comment on the blog: Newton is undoubtedly in 7th heaven and Lobo, that good Christian, appears to have once again sold his soul – but for so little!
Ans. In your denomination of religion, how many souls does your teaching say? Your statement “..that good Christian, appears to have once again sold his soul – but for so little. weak in religion.
3. Comment on the blog: Lobo would be a disaster as Mayor. My tip is he’ll make a hash of the Deputy’s role the gang won’t want to know him (By a famous autonomy)
Ans: What do you mean a disaster – is it the same as a disaster when you get divorced by your wife or partner? Are you comparing me with ex Mayor Helen Whiteside and her description that appeared in the Age some 10 days ago. Ms. Whiteside bit the hand that fed her? I do not think I will follow her footsteps if and when my turn comes.
4 Comment on the blog: Lobo you have disappointed so many voters by going with the gang. You could have changed it all with your casting vote.
Ans: Are you one of the voters that is disappointed? Please let me know. I am happy to talk to you and others. You know how to reach me on mobile and e-mail.
5. Comment on the blog: If Lobo is so hard-working why did he miss so many council meetings in 2011/12, including those where the Mayor was elected?
Ans: Did you ask me that question before? I would have told you the real reason; I showed explained my circumstances and showed my sick leave certificate. Did you expect a copy of the certificate to be sent for this blog. If so, let us know.
6. Comment on the blog: Tell that to Cr Lobo who was very disparaging of this forum in his impromptu speech at the swearing in of the new Council
Ans. Read 1 Corinthians 16:11-21 (The Message)
You guys just do not have a clue about Jamie Hyams. Terming him as NAZI is just below the belt. One is sick to stoop so low. Have you met Jamie Hyams before, if not you need to meet him and then comment and hear/see for yourself how decent he is with lots of patients. He uses rationale where required, smart and intelligent, affable, extremely good memory, making things happen rather than waiting for things to happen (principles of late Stephen Covey). Very co-operative, ready to assist residents of Glen Eira not only Tucker ward. I do not have to justify to you why I have proposed him as a Mayor but I will let you in. There are multifarious reasons: He has the required knowledge, he writes well, portrays good true and proper image. Does not assume things like most of you guys. I could go on and on about him and my other colleagues. Just because Jamie belongs to Liberal party, it does not mean that we should hate one another. I work on the methodoligy of observing, investigating, verifying, reporting and then decision making. When a decision is made, it is made on the basis of what is beneficial to the residents who have put us in a trustworthy position. If residents were unhappy, this would reflect in the latest reports on the declarations of the number of votes we all received.
Smart Aleck, D. Evans. Elsternwick need a good holiday!!!!!!
I believe we have many unusually stupid people in this universe. They need to grow up and not succumb to knee jerk re-action. I seize this opportunity to thank other positive anonymous people who wrote in defence of me and I thank them warmly.

Hope you enjoyed the foregoing as I thought I would respond with my name. Beware the fury of a patient man.”

Oscar, for your own sake and the benefit of residents, please resign immediately.
November 5, 2012 at 11:22 AM
I’d love to be a fly on the wall when Jamie and Andrew Newton read this – they are probably already on the phone reading Lobo the riot act (while Burke is busy investigating the rules relating to Deputy Mayor replacement).
Not a lot of point in commenting further .. Lobo’s post speaks for itself.
By the way Oscar, I have a university degree, have held senior positions in large public companies, both in Australia and overseas, and by any standards am well travelled.
November 5, 2012 at 12:41 PM
You must be joking. Cr. Lobo may not fit the profile of your expectations. He was well supported in the election and has every right to be respected. You may be surpised.
November 5, 2012 at 12:56 PM
If Oscar’s post is anything to go by, I doubt I will be surprised but I betcha those that supported him in the election definitely are.
November 5, 2012 at 9:14 PM
I am very suprised.
The comments made by Oscar on this site has left me speechless. Had these comments been made prior to elections my and many other votes, I know off may have been redirected elsewhere.
November 5, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Oscar, ya need help desperately. I know some good quacks if you want.
November 5, 2012 at 3:11 PM
It goes something like this “Fools that came to scoff remained to pray” If anyone has reasonable guts please call me. I hope you have the intelligence
to suss out my mobile number. I am more than happy to meet with you,
Anonymous guys and girls (the later would not be stupid so stupid) like us
men. I put my name to the post; I do not hid under the petticoat of my wife.
It is time to take you on. Smart Aleck try to be Maxwell Smart as the position
is vacant. Those who write on this forum may have to check their screws in
their head. You really need to go to good quacks and if you want I can join
you for support. I do not think you know the meaning of Aleck. Anonymous 1 you are a joke and need to get yourself recruited in a Circus which will come
in December/January 2013. Do not be c…k sure Mr. “Not a Critin” As to the first post from Critin at 11.22 am. Degrees can be purchased from U.S.
and Asia, do not give me that Critin,If you are senior manager why do you get involved in wasting and bringing every one down. Are you doing that to your boss? I will try to find out your company and possible they will get this in your annual review. The meaning of your name is just unusually stupid and you will remain so until you and others apologise. I have had enough patience and I have conveyed this yesterday to the author of this blog. I am confident that
the person will respect that and in reciprocation I will also serve her better.
I am the servant of the public and the very reason you abuse your servant you expose your self and those you love into Hell.
November 5, 2012 at 3:41 PM
To all concerned, the reason I have decided to refrain from responding to this current post of Oscar’s is not because I fear for the content of my annual review but because I take pity on Oscar – the man has obviously lost it
November 5, 2012 at 3:45 PM
The comments by Cr Lobo are distressing. I sincerely ask, for his own welfare, that he refrains from putting up any more comments as they only confirm the suspicions of what many people have already written or undoubtedly think.
November 5, 2012 at 4:40 PM
Cr Lobo,
Your post does you no credit. Casting general aspersions on the education of posters when you don’t know them is a sign of shallowness in my view. I have no idea of your tertiary qualifications but I’d be pretty sure mine stack-up comparatively well. Not that tertiary study is a legitimate determinate of wisdom – it isn’t.
My question to you is why did you side with the reactionaries when it came to the vote for mayor when it was the progressives to whom you owe your place in council?
November 5, 2012 at 6:20 PM
And you Cr Lobo how low can you go!- you are supposedly to set an example to us all & we might respect you,. But r u serious????
anyway, welcome to the digital age of social media….everyone in a democracy has freedom of speech remember- but u r in a position of power & need to rethink what u say & how u say it. I am seriously concerned for your wellbeing! Getsome help…
Again as I invted the Mayor, I n ow invite you to outline how you as coleader intend to fix the nonexistent GE Council governance, transparency & significantly improve consultation with us the rataepayers & residents.
Do it here- I frankly dont wanna hear your mud slinging either..
November 5, 2012 at 6:53 PM
As the person who stated that Glen Eira had reached a new low in electing Hyama as Mayor and Lobo as deputy I am compelled to clarify this comment that if Lobo becomes Mayor, then Glen Eira has achieved a new low.
November 5, 2012 at 7:59 PM
The irony is that Lobo called YOU loco. Seriously why oh why did people vote in this idiot? Glen Eira has gone backwards to other neighbouring Councils such as Stonnington and Bayside in the last 10 years. We were one of the top suburbs but now mix it with Monash and Kingston. That has now become our peer group. A change is desperately needed here but Hyams and Lobo are not the answer.
November 5, 2012 at 7:14 PM
Oscar, you crtisise what has been written on this blogging site. It wasn’t that long ago you where praising what was written about you. Unfortunately Oscar you can’t have it both ways.
I would suggest you look in the mirror and ask yourself, “what has changed”. What has taken me from people champion to people’s disappointment?
I would suggest that you stop posting anything on any site till you find the answer to that question. Otherwise you will only do yourself, your image and the people that voted you in, “harm”.
November 5, 2012 at 7:22 PM
This is sad. I think we’re seeing a full melt down.
November 5, 2012 at 7:47 PM
Oscar is having his own Mark Latham moment. Along with Hyams they are a disgraceful representation for Glen Eira. The Ombudsman needs to sack this lot and start again.
November 5, 2012 at 8:38 PM
Ok. We have a situation that will probably make our Council the laughing stock of all Councils. This should not happen!
Oscar has made a statement, like it or not he has contributed and if he can use this momentum to contribute to Council meetings the job of GE Debates has been done. I quantify this statement meaning that Oscar rarely speaks in meetings and in the 4 meetings I’ve been to he hardly moved. Maybe he works hard in the backroom.
Oscar definitely needs to apologise to some contributors and some contributors need to apologise to him…..let’s draw a line in the sand and start again.
Glen Eira is a great area and if our Councillors can make the right decisions it will become even greater. At the moment all there is is bitterness and resentment.
PS. Kelinni ridden by Glen Boss for Cup!
November 5, 2012 at 10:18 PM
I find it difficult to believe that these extraordinary posts come from Oscar Lobo. But I have to assume that the people running this blog wouldn’t put up such provocative posts unless they believed they were genuine. But if it’s not you Oscar, please ignore what follows.
To quote Paul Keating (yes, again – sorry) you are behaving like “the salmon that jumps onto the hook”.
Let me explain.
In your first post you tell us that we are all fools because of “lack of education in a proper private schools and top notch universities”.
And as if insulting those of us who went to public schools wasn’t enough, you then go on in your second post to question the authenticity of the qualifications of another contributor with the comment “As to the first post from Critin at 11.22 am. Degrees can be purchased from U.S. and Asia, do not give me that Critin”.
It seems you not only place great importance on formal educational qualifications, but also on the type of school or university.
And that made me wonder what your qualifications were that made you think you were so superior. They must be very impressive, I thought.
When I looked at your Linked-In entry http://www.linkedin.com/pub/oscar-c-lobo/1a/b08/5a7
I found you claim to be educated at Pacific Southern University.
So I looked up Pacific Southern University and found that it is an organisation not accredited to award degrees, was closed down by court order in Hawaii and allegedly was charging thousands of dollars for degrees over the internet.
For verification check the following websites –
http://hawaii.gov/dcca/ocp/udgi/lawsuits/PSU/
http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/Education_Degree_Scam_list.php
http://www2.guardian.co.tt/news/2011/07/17/rambachan-gets-doctorate-failed-university
One quote about this “university” from the last link is worth repeating – “It is alleged that thousands of people yearning to attain status fork out thousands of dollars in return for flashy accolades.”
Now maybe you got you qualifications from some other Pacific Southern University – but I can’t find any reference to one. Maybe you’ve got lots of qualifications from other universities. I don’t know. Maybe next time you post you will include a copy of your qualifications.
But should you really be the one make judgements about people based on their education?
November 5, 2012 at 11:51 PM
Glenhuntly, you are quite unfair on Oscar and his qualifications. He holds one of the best degrees you can buy over the Internet or your money back. Jamie went for the law degree option and hasn’t looked back since.
November 5, 2012 at 10:37 PM
I’m coming to despair about the quality of our councillors and administrators. Lobo’s comments are childish (“pooh material”) and god knows how his mind works. Hyams is another kettle of fish but like Lobo pride and arrogance are there in truck loads. Add in Lipshutz and we’re in terrible trouble. Nobody is right except them every single time. Please please please will someone sack the whole lot.
November 5, 2012 at 10:59 PM
Here’s a tip Oscar. If something comes on the TV or radio that you don’t like or that offends you, you can either change the station or switch it off altogether. A simple solution and one that makes intrinsic sense.
November 6, 2012 at 12:59 PM
You are quite correct ‘c.singh’ Councillor Lobo really needs someone to acquaint him with some political smarts. Whilst it’s grist for the forum mill and manna from heaven for this blog his rant is babe- in-the-woods stuff politically. It raised questions about his qualifications -courtesy of ‘Glen Huntly’ – and about his rationale for turning his back on his supporter base in relation to the choice of Mayor.
Councillor Hyams is a spin merchant by occupation and is only too happy to ply his trade of massaging information and weaving in some threats whenever the opportunity permits. Councillor Lobo would be much better advised to follow in the footsteps of Councillors Esakoff and Lipshutz when it comes to these things.
That said, seeing Councillor Lobbo has opened Pandora’s box, clarification of his qualifications and his reasoning for supporting the reactionaries in the mayoral race would be instructive.
November 6, 2012 at 7:01 PM
Cr. Lobo did not turn his back on his supporter base by voting for Hyams as mayor. His supporter base is the ALP not the Greens. If you asked him why maybe he has a good reason. It makes little difference what the politics of mayor are as he only gets one vote. I know many ALP voters that have some pretty bad things to say about the Greens. They talk about the damage that they have done to the grass roots of the ALP. Cr. Lobo knew what he was doing.
November 6, 2012 at 9:49 PM
I’ve asked him ‘why’ here twice.
I’m not convinced Councillor Lobo does entirely know what he is doing. For example, why would you draw attention to posters education and qualifications in a pejorative manner when there is a chance it would draw attention to your own, thereby raising questions about them.
You may not have got it but the Council consists of 4 reactionaries – Lipshutz, Hyams, Esakoff, Okotel. And 4 who were voted in as progressives – Pilling, Sounness (Greens) Delahunty, Lobo (Labour). Delahunty stayed true to her Labour base, Lobo deserted.
I’m not sure where Magee fits into this profile.
November 7, 2012 at 2:22 PM
Your choice of language is interesting. Progressive = Left leaning. Reactionaries = Right leaning. Why not say Left wing and Right wing or socialist and conservative. There are plenty of Labor voters that do not consider themselves progressive. Left Wing. Maybe Lobo is one of them. If you think there will be two clear voting blocks on this council you may be surprised. You may see Pilling holding different views to the other Green. Once they undergo training the newbies may find out that any of the ideas that they thought they would fight for will turn into dreams. Impossible dreams.
November 8, 2012 at 1:02 PM
Progressive and Reactionary? You must be Socialist Left or a Trotskyite? Where do either of these 2 phrases relate to Council. Perhaps you want Glen Eira to be like your “progressive” Council like Moreland, Yarra Hume etc. They are hopeless whereas Glen Eira on independent analysis is a template for how it ought to be done. From my vantage point it has been Esakoff, Lipshutz, Hyams, Tang & Pilling who have led the changes. Gesac showed real vision – who was primarily responsible – Feldman, Lipshutz ,Esakoff.. Environment sustainability – Pillng, Tang, Esakoff, Lipshutz & Hyams. Hopefully the newbies will follow in their path. My money is on the so called Reactionaries to continue the good governance. The only concern is Magee who is only interested in big noting himself. Lobo is colourful but gets things done. Is Lobo mayor material – at this stage No. I’d like to see Lipshutz in the mayoral seat. He is a team player.

Reference is made to the comment made by Henry Richard (Dick) in his post of 08 November 2012. sent at 1.02 pom. Apart from you belonging to Liberal party, what is your connection with Lipshutz? Do you know his background? Is he going to leave his business and discharge his duties if and when he becomes a Mayor? Do you know how a Mayor is elected? Did you know that Helen Whiteside resigned from the council because of him (read what appeared in the Age last month and Lipshutz’s resonse. Do professional respond that way. Do you want a rude person to deal with the public? Did you know that Frank in his election material termed him as rotten apple? and much more. What are your basis of commenting on Cr.Lobo. How much do you know him compared to your friend and others on the council. What do you know of Cr. Magee and his support to people of East Bentleigh? Read item no: 17 above. Do not underestime the newbies they could stand for Mayor’s position. Also do not rule out Cr. Esakoff who may want to return
during the term. A note to number 15 – C. Singh – do you sing often? Is it your real name or made up name.
November 10, 2012 at 5:48 PM
Wow! Lots of questions for poor Henry there. Judging by his last post here I doubt he is qualified to answer any of them 😉
Just btw, I think there was more than one person who made Helen Whiteside’s time unbearable. I found her to be a person genuinely wanting to work in the interests of notonly the constituents in her Ward but more broadly. She was thrust into the mayoral role before she was ready and having been placed in that position received very little support from those who put her there. A loss to council when she chose to depart.

Agree 100%

Having just arrived from business trip, I caught up with the tit for tat on the topic “Need we say more”? What does this title mean ? I have known Cr. Lobo for the past 11 years.. I have closely followed his works not only
for the Goan community but all communities in multicultural Victoriia, He is one of the very few members of our community who devotes time in the community houses, serves the public, arranges shows that integrate Auustralians through bonds of friendship and rich culture etc to Australia his second home. You guys have been unfair to him.
