We are committed to facilitating genuine debate within Glen Eira. Your views on planning, environment, open space, CEO and councillor performance matter.
Yeah, right the mrc’s got a fab record over 150 years. Yeah, let’s just move on for the next 150 years and make sure that things stay the same and they cuddle up to their pollie mates and make a gazillion from the development that is part crown land. Us poor buggers get the traffic and congestion no open space and they get the dough.
I note with interest that Mr La Grand was nominated for chairman by Mr Mike Symonds the Chairman of the MRC and seconded by the EX member for Caulfield Ted Tanner, good mate of Mr Southwick. Nothing to see here move right along folks.
Yes folks. Before you move along note that also voting at the meeting are Mr. Greg Sword former National President of the ALP and former ALP Councillor Staikos. You vision is poor when you are looking through only one eye.
Be it Liberal or Labor they have traditionally appointed their political mates to be a Trustee. This is a natural law. That is how it works. Always has and always will.
OMG, OMG, I can’t believe what I am reading. Mr Sword as the chairman of the Trustees confirms what others have been saying for some time, that the MRC trustees have a conflict of interest in regards to the new lease for the Racecourse. This information needs to go to the Ombudsman and the lease negotiations need to stops until a thorough investigation is conducted. I am shocked at what is going on here. Someone needs to be hold to account.
These minutes are from 2011. That means that in three years nothing has been achieved or improved in terms of governance. Politicians and bureaucrats have sat on their hands and given tacit permission for the Melbourne Racing Club to continue on and ignore all current standards of governance and transparency. It goes much further too in that the Melbourne Racing Club has been permitted to basically cheat the residents of Victoria and ensure that their payouts to the community are kept to the absolute minimum. A disgraceful state of affairs.
Ok so back in 2011 the Trustees as an entity voted against doing something about conflict of interest. What steps have the Trustees taken since to manage the problem? Also curious is the invitees to the meetings, being all from MRC. Who got an invitation with responsibility for or interest in public parks or recreation areas?
I’m pleased to see the Minutes have not been labelled “Confidential” and hope that applies to the Minutes of subsequent meetings of the Trustees. While GECC publishes its Minutes on its website, CRRT doesn’t bother. Another oddity is that the CRRT website claims the 3 Council nominees represent the local municipality, the City of Glen Eira. I used to think that too, before Andrew Newton’s clarification.
The invitations are only a pretence only one person has ever attended but nonetheless the CRT have not improved the lot of residents of Victoria WITH REGARDS TO ENTRY INTO OUR RESERVE. The MRC income was about $22 million last year and was divided among them and usually always all spent inside the green fences whilst the Caulfield Racesourse Reserve Trust and the Glen Eira City Council all act co-operatively towards the Melbourne Racing Club which managed until recently to have the use of $2 billion worth of land for only
$ 80,000.00 per annum and the Glen Eira Council subsidises this body wioth concessional rates on our behalf and OUR EXPENSE.
The comment about invitations contradicts the Minutes of the CRRT meeting held 3 March 2011. It clear shows 3 invitees present: Messrs Robertson, McCarthy and Discombe, all from the MRC. They are the only invitees listed, excluding the CRRT Secretary.

This blog has turned into a hate medium against the MRC and Racecourse Trust. Why not move on and agree to disagree.

You need to look at the result of the voting – 6 to 4. Minister appointed a majority of Liberals.
