The following facts, which have been noted previously, need to be reiterated –
1. The draft budget was amended by council resolution
2. No new ‘version’ of the amended budget and Strategic Resource Plan has been published
3. Residents have put in submissions based on a document which technically no longer exists or has any legal status. It has been superceded.
4. Tonight’s meeting is thus irrelevant since whatever people have written, or will say, is not based on what they could say if they were privy to the new budget.
QUESTIONS:
- Why haven’t the new budget and Strategic Resource Plan been made public?
- Why haven’t councillors insisted that it be public?
- Why is the public being subjected to the farce of commenting on something that no longer exists?
- What does this say about governance at Glen Eira City Council?

I don’t understand what you are on about. For this year the proposed rate increase is reduced by half a percent which in turn reduces the surplus. This is a very minor change and to go through the entire budget process would be costly and time consuming. What is far more interesting is which Capital Works will be reduced and what the implication of the Councillors action has on future budgets.

You obviously have little concept of what governance means. Even if only a single sentence is changed in the budget and the SRP, then a new version needed to be made public before any consultation process could go ahead. It wasn’t and thus shows again the contempt that this administration and its inept councillors have for the public. Betya they didn’t even consider residents.

I don;t understand this situation at all. After months of compillation and presumably a great deal of private discussion the Council amends it;s budget prior to listening to it;s constituents. It appears this was done without informing the Administration and therefore without advise. This is almost criminal in the world of Local Government. This mob, lead by a rank amatuer is hopeless.

Now for a change from the old subject we are now to find more millions for the pavilion at Duncan McKinnon….. We cannot afford this. It is criminal to destroy a perfectly adequate building such as the stand there! Unfortunately, I believe we should clear our debt for the monstrisity at EB first and then do some other work with the change we have over in the years to come instead of keeping Australian and overseas lenders in luxurient style while we in culfield will struggle to pay for the lights we tuen on and of course our enormous council rates. Give us a break rich executives at council who receive in salary and benefits in a year what others take almpost ten years to earn!
Give us a break and lookout if we all become subsistance citizens|

Also note that part of this money will be used to turn open space park land into a bigger parking lot!

No I hadn’t noticed the park land grab… Glen Eira councillors havr completely lost the plot about the needs of the community…. more green grass…. not concrete, bitumen and fencing of our parks to make more car perking1`

If your talking about grabbing open space drive past GESAC.How do you turn a large park into a small park? Let Glen Eira Council manage it.
