With still one hour to go, three more records have been broken on Glen Eira Debates – our monthly, weekly and search engine referrals. 615 searches found us via Google in the past 3 days. The site was visited 4, 641 in the space of one week and the tally for monthly hits currently stands at 18,838. This literally obliterates our past records and makes it well over 600 hits per day, every day, for the past couple of months.
We thank our readers once more, and ask that you keep spreading the word. Tell people about us – what we do, and why we do it and how residents can voice their views freely and openly on all council matters.
We anticipate well over 160,000 hits for the year, but intend to triple this by the time council elections are due. We need your support, your views, and your comments in order to make this site the one that residents will turn to in order to get the real news as to what is happening in the community.

They are unbelievably stats, that’s a lot of viewing.
Maybe it’s PB, Newton, and the gang of 4, and I might add the whole town hall staff frantically clicking on the blog to find out what’s happening, or just to have a laugh.
Since councils accountability system is a complete fantasy, they come here for the latest news, some truth and reality.
Has this blog manger applied for a operating grant through the Glen Eira community grants, it should, since you provide a such good public service.
Since council has shown, thorough its own track record, that it is incapable of reflecting a honest account of any council proceeding. This blog is the place for news the latest proceedings, insight and of course debate.
With such stats council should be all to willing fund such a well used, popular community asset.
Only the GESAC hopefully will get better stats, if and when it opens.
Keep up the good work.
LoL to Glen Eira Debates

Terrific work moderators! As Anonymous said, you are a community benefit and should be thanked for the time and effort you put in. I imagine it’s hard work keeping the bastards honest. Personally, I’ve learnt more about what goes on in this council from this site than from all the hundreds of thousands of dollars we pay for the “public relations” department. Have you people thought about standing for election? You’ve got my vote.

Anon one again shows a total lack of understanding as to how Council works. If any of you are capable of reading the LGAct and comprehending it., you would note that Council sets the Policy and the Officers must impliment Council’s Policy. Mr Burke in his capacity as PR manager has to sell Councils Policy regardless of how stupid it may be, and his own opinion is irrelevant. Mr Newton as CEO must implement Councils Policy. Where is Frank? Maybe he knows what is about to happen to him. Bring on the Reports.

I’d also like to add my congratulations to Glen Eira Debates. In a democracy it’s vitally important that people have the opportunity to express a viewpoint and to seek information that goes beyond the spin of vested interests. This site provides such options, fulfilling a real public service. When all the news that comes out of council is tainted, it becomes even more important that administrators and councillors are held to account. Reading what councillors say to justify their decision making has been an eye opener for me. Thank you and may you continue to thrive and prosper.
