Below are a couple of pages extracted from the DPCD report on building/planning activity in all municipal localities. They make for some very interesting reading – particularly in the number of applications for 2 to 10 lot residences. We are not entirely convinced however as to the accuracy of some of the figures – ie. the number cited for vegetation removal and car parking waivers. Readers need to click on the image in order to get a clearer view or refer directly to the SECOND HALF of the report which is uploaded HERE

This data is for sure suss. We’re expected to believe that only 25 car parking exemptions were given when nearly every single application has this included. Pull the other leg will you.

The maps confirm what is already known. Bentleigh, Ormond, McKinnon, East Bentleigh, Carnegie are being hit the hardest. What I deduce from this as well is that plenty of these new developments aren’t within a cooee of main roads and the so called activity centres. Half of Glen Eira is being sacrificed by Newton and Akehurst. Says a lot about ruling in the best interests of the entire community.

The figure of only 2% objections to planning decisions sticks in my mind. Does anyone remember Akehurst claiming that this shows how successful council’s processes are? Guess this mythical figure could have been blown out of the water with what’s presented in these statistics.
