If either Gibbs and McLean have their jobs extended for another 3 years then this issue should go straight to the ombudsman. It defies all guidelines set by authorities and cements long term relationships that are unhealthy and have the potential to work against the public interest. I’m also appalled that all of this has repeatedly been done in secret. If Newton has nothing to hide then why isn’t this held out in the public arena and why don’t we get media releases such as this Kingston one puts out with nothing to fear.

Hi Colin, there are a lot of Gunna’s in Glen Eira, Gunna do this, gunna do that, take it to the Man yourself, if it happens.

Colin instead of trash gives us reasons why our Audit Committee is that bad. Facts not inuendo.

How’s this for starters? –
1. Gibbs and McLean have been in since about 1998. The guidelines recommend regular rotation of all members. That ain’t happened.
2. When you’ve dealing with millions and millions you don’t want the possibility of getting too familiar. You want objectivity.Newton, Swabey, Gibbs, McLean, Lipshutz have all been together for yonks. It doesn’t look too good.
3. where’s the annual report?
4. where’s the accountability to the public, especially on gesac? Not a damn word
5. who oversees the audit committee? Newton and lipshutz sunk the finance committee so they’ve got a free rein
6. auditor general doesn’t just pop in to visit. Stuff is going on that’s for sure being kept secret in line with the Newton philosophy – keep the bastards ignorant and guessing.
7. If this was all kosher then there’d be announcements and advertising out in the open not in camera as has gone on for years.
I’m sick to death of these cosy little clubs that make all the decisions and rubber stamp everything as hunky dorey. It ain’t and the sooner this place is cleaned out the better.

It has taken Newton many years to train the Gibbs and McLean. Why on earth would he want to get a new pair. They may appoint some wretched fellow and that would be too much. I hope councillors understand that a change would not make the staff happy.
