Readers may be aware of the proposed Moonee Valley Racecourse development and that the Minister had decided to create an ‘advisory committee’ in response to a request from the racing club. Featured below is the Moonee Valley Council’s official response to the Minister. We have highlighted those sections that we believe are significant and which reveal what can happen when a council and a community work in unison – in stark contrast to the history of Glen Eira City Council and the farce that remains the C60 and the centre of the racecourse development!

This is like comparing chalk and cheese. Moonee valley is poles apart from Glen Eira in the concern they have for residents and how much they involve them. Whatever the outcome for their racecourse development residents will at least know that their voices have been heard and for the most part supported by their council. The exact opposite to what goes on in here.

Precisely, a very good reason for you to move to Moonee valley.

Name me one single thing that Newton and Burke have done that takes resident views into account in the last 12 years. Please don’t mention bloody pavilions either.

Shame of you for questioning those highly paid officers at White Hall. Those officers are full-time professionals who have at their disposal information not available to the great unwashed and the wisdom and training to apply it in the best interests of all residents at all times.
The mulch depot is a classic example of how the officers and their sycophants (Council) acted promptly to close the depot when there were grave issues of public health raised by two locals and a dog. They then promptly re-opened the depot when those issues were resolved to the satisfaction of the two people who had diligently pursued the matter. Though I’m told the dog is still not convinced. 🙄

They have done plenty of things with the residents in mind. They are called the silent majority. Some people are categorized as the “rowdy minority”. You know what, they don’t get heard as much as the silent people. Never been able to work out why it comes out this way but that is what happens. If they are replaced nothing will change. In some councils they go through the motions of appearing to listen to the “rowdy majority”. In fact they do not listen. They fool them though. That is their skill.

It a funny thing Anon on dec 26 at 11.17 says not to mention pavilions.
Would anyone believe that the $12 million approximate figure collected for “open space” collected as compensation for dense developments for human habitation has only bought two house blocks worth less than $2million and of course has apparently been used to concrete pathways and build large buildings and acconpanying parking area onm green grass. To name a few examples… Caulfield Park Pavilion, Duncan McKinnon Park and GESAC AND THE MANY ACRES AND ROADS IN EACH OF THEM WHICH ARE EATING UP THE PARKS. There seems to be some misinterpretation of what a park improvemen really means.
In summary it is apparent that the Glen Eira meaning of compensation for loss pof open space really means to build on more parklands.. so in fact we now have many acres less!!!!!

Also after eventually inspecting a few files, (the front dest etc makes it like a hurdle race and sometimes it isnot possible to actually see the file) but did you know that for the big developments at the C Racecourse that very few residents are notified. According to lists many hundreds are told, but they happen to be the residents living on the main roads around the perimeter , the majority of whom are flat dwellers living in the area on a temporary basis so why would they be involved in this attempt to only maintain a situation which they are not familiar with. Very ffew of those who live in the side streets, usually held to be the homes of [ermanent are ever notified by proper mail of the plans of the Caulfield’s creeping octopus.
