Nothing stands in the way of sport be it the environment, budget restraints, or simply the practise of proper governance. The costs are never calculated. Worse, no plausible explanations are ever given as to why 39 trees have to be sacrificed. No one is ever told anything and that I’m pretty sure would include councillors themselves. They’re just figureheads whose sole task is to do the necessary legal rubberstampin. Newton probably works on the philosophy of what they don’t know won’t hurt them and the vast majority are too dumb to ask the right questions or pass a vote.

2001 the Master Plan recommends reducing the number of ovals from 7 to 6 and site them to eliminate overlapping of boundaries. Plant belts of native trees, low shrubs and groundcovers in the new enlarged areas in a way that will provide the greatest shade, wind protection and visual screening.
Instead the Council has chosen to keep the existing 7 ovals, increased the ovals and re-sited them with larger overlapping boundaries in a way that will reduce the shade, wind protection and visual screening.
The Council has a lot of questions to answer.
