We are committed to facilitating genuine debate within Glen Eira. Your views on planning, environment, open space, CEO and councillor performance matter.
q is the leader taking an anti MRC stance or do you think it will be followed by a pro MRC item. If they build this then they probably cannot complain about cricket nets or changing rooms obstructing their view of the races.
Three million for a huge tv screen plus another three million or so for a synthetic track and only 1.8 million for what’s supposed to be a park and public recreation. I would like a definition of advertising too because for sure there is going to be odds and betting on this screen and not only the races themselves plus what money has Napthine handed over as part of this 3 million screen. Residents are at the bottom of the pile as always and when is the agreement going to be met and fences taken down.
I’ve no objection to commercial operators paying for the use of public land. I do object to council gouging an extra $2.64 from residents for the privilege of using areas that they have already paid for via their rates. I would assume that those involved would already be paying the trainer for each session and that the extra $2.64 is an add on that goes into council’s pockets. As far as I can tell there is nothing in the local law that entitles council to exact this fee from residents.
I suggest that council should concentrate much more on exacting the appropriate payment from the Melbourne Racing Club and the insignificant rates it pays, rather than hounding residents in this fashion.
It makes sense; the renters inside the towers will be able to sit back and watch the big TV and place their bets. Maybe the MRC can put on Apollo 13, and the space station crew can watch it. The MRC are at the cutting edge of developing satellite TV, they are our real Entrepreneur. This blog should move aside and gives these racecourse guys room, this puny place just isn’t bigger enough for their, extravagance! what the hell, the MRC will make it all back in tax breaks, and GE residents can proudly boast of having the largest TV in the world in their very own backyard. I bet it has unintended consequences like the pigeon really like sitting on it, and then they’ll have to kill all the pigeons. Let’s hope folly takes over and sink this ship of fool and it takes their giant TV with them.

Is he advertising for the MRC pretending this is a community event when it is really to get the kiddies into gambling and to develop obesity?
