Hardly an auspicious start to a discussion when you read “IMPA supports the concept of sustainable urban densification”. What a non sequitur. Still, we might find out how they propose to defy physics. It’s hardly an outcome either, just an ongoing process involving tradeoffs and policy changes to respond to “unintended” consequences.
The Cranbourne Pakenham Rail Corridor Project drop-in session held Monday was a disappointment—very few questions answered. Apparently it was just to get the public to say what they considered important prior to doing actual serious design work; with an actual plan expected in 2015, construction starting in 2017, finishing in 2019. Heard many people criticise the proposal for failing to incorporate additional tracks or eliminate Grange Rd level crossing. Still unknown what might happen to the “unsolicited” proposal from Rail Transformation Consortium if there is a change of government in November. Encouraging to see so many people drop in even if it did mean it was hard to ask questions.
