Ten years at least and still counting for Glen Eira to achieve anything on tree protection. We have reported on this several times already and direct readers to a previous post – https://gleneira.wordpress.com/2013/10/14/the-saga-of-the-tree-register/

Trees are expendable in Glen Eira. Take a look at how many have gone for the village development and it is a disgrace.
What I like is this council protecting trees with community nominations and that it is an amendment and not something that is purely a local law that can then be ignored by officers. Good on Moonee Valley and all those other councils that care about their assets and environment.

Yes it is amazing timing after we have just witnessed the removal of many very healthy elms on “private” and public space on the road without the blink of an eye even though the artist’s impression promoting the village in earlier days presented a very heavily treed entrance from Redan Road. New scientific finding suggest that the European trees are very valuable for bringing back rainfall. The climate of TOWNSVILLE HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF LEAFY TREES..

Lipshutz sits on the road like a big bull blocking any progress on the tree register, and gives you what you really want a soulless looking Chanukah for Hanukkah instead, be grateful the man’s trying his very best, isn’t he, I’m sue if you had to choose one or the other, most people would take the Chanukah, “yes” he is a hearts and minds man, just like Richard Nixon was, only better, although the Lipshutz bit ain’t so catchy. 3 pretty good posts on whitehall’s neglect and indifference. Get rid of the levy then use ratepayer money to pay for drainage and make it easier for developers to keep moonscaping every block of land they lay their hands on. The plan is working perfectly.

Good god Mac, Whitehall is not indifferent, they are just indifferent to the residents everyone else they bend over backwards to accommodate, they excel in hating residents

Off topic, but the following government media release we find astounding. Perhaps we are simply naive, but we question how someone who has had intimate connections with the racing industry can conduct an audit of that industry and still be seen as fully ‘independent’ and ‘objective’!

This is exactly what you would expect from The Labor Party. One of the first cabs off the rank is to lather their mates in lucrative positions, I bet the anti corruption reforms vanish in the new year mist.
