Not for the first time has Mr De’Ath run into a little controversy regarding his electioneering. Last election it was his failure for proper authorisation and the explanation was that it was the printer’s fault and that he had retrieved all of the ‘incorrect’ flyers as soon as he could! Unfortunately, many thousands had already gone out! No ‘penalty’ from the electoral office of course!
This time around we have a far more serious potential breach. Candidates are not permitted to include their how-to-vote preferences in the election packs that will go out to residents. They are required to provide a 200 word pitch about themselves. Below is De’Ath’s effort. It clearly indicates preferences and whom to vote for. In our opinion this is a breach of the legislation.

Wouldn’t trust em as far as I could throw Hyams and Death

De’ath may be a breach, but it also goes to show how this blog is a card carrying member of the Vote Lobo gang. Devoting half a post to a failure to have election material authorised, but nothing on Lobo’s similar failure.
Lobo has gone after Delahunty, Magee, Pilling and a council staff member. To me, that’s got nothing to do with bullying and everything to do with Lobo.

When the candidate submits their application the Returning Officer reads it to make sure there is no breach of the regulations. He would then advise the candidate if he thought something was not kosher. The VEC would have anticipated candidates referring their preferences and given clear guidelines,
This will be going on right across the State. Nothing unlawful here.

Thank you for your comment. However, if you have bothered to read our posts carefully you would have noted that our consistent call has been that all current councillors should go – that includes Lobo. As for his flyer, we have not received a copy of it. Thus if you do possess one we would gladly publish it.

I did read your comment carefully and made no reference to Cr.Lobo. I simply set out my views on the procedure and voting rules.

Please see our post – https://gleneira.wordpress.com/2016/09/15/residents-candidate-promises-how-to-decide/. There you will find a paragraph which states – Our position is clear. After more than a decade of in fighting, incompetence, and abuse of power over and over again, it is definitely time for a change. These councillors have done nothing to advance planning, to secure sufficient open space, and to operate in a transparent and accountable manner. Nor have they acted on community aspirations that mean something or done this in a timely manner. Traffic, over development, open space, heritage, community gardens, tree protection are just some of the issues left untouched by this group of 9 councillors.
So now is the opportunity to change all this. And it can be changed with your vote. That means ensuring that each and every one of the incumbents are not re-elected nor those to whom their preferences are directed since the chances are that these are merely their stooges.

Totally agree

Mr De’Ath, good luck with your election campaign, as a Tucker Ward constituent and voter may I ask what your stance & opinion is on two issues please;
1. The ‘guns in the park’ fiasco?
2. What’s your view on Councillors decision to not release the Ms O’Brien report into inappropriate behaviour and conduct, would you have voted to publish the report for the ratepayers to view in an open and transparent manner?

Good try Nick, he likely to say what you want to hear now, and if elected he will be Hyams puppet, whether Hyams is elected or not
September 22, 2016 at 7:12 AM
I’m a Council Candidate and I’m a really good fit for this Council.
This is because while I will electioneer as
. opposing Council’s clandestine culture and non representative governance
. being pro increased open space
. demanding much needed planning scheme reform
I really am in favour of this Council and all they stand for.
To prove this I am again campaigning as Hyams’s stooge. Hyams has continually shown he is anti all I supposedly stand for, so why else would I put him as my second preference if I didn’t support him and what he stands for.
If I don’t get elected my aim is to ensure Hyams does and if I do get elected I look forward to either supporting him in Council or following in his footsteps.

I don’t know if this is legal or not. Even if it is, it is right on the edge pushing the envelope. Maybe everything is fine in love, war, and politics for some people. I don’t like it if it gives an unfair advantage to one candidate above others.
Tucker ward is turning into the battleground of the Libs versus Labor and probably both will stoop as low as they can in order to get their people in.

There are some strange bedfellows emerging in Tucker Ward that may make your comments premature.

Dear GE Debates,
I’m unsure if Mr De’Ath even reads this blog site, would you or anyone have some contact details for him. I just wanted to let him know I’ve asked a pre-election question on here, and if he’s got time could he answer it please for the benefit of other constituents as well.

Details on all candidates are in our previous post – https://gleneira.wordpress.com/2016/09/20/the-candidates-stooges/
September 22, 2016 at 3:43 PM
You could turn up at the GERA forum and ask all of the candidates the same questions or get their emails ask way.

This is a reply from Rodney Andonopoulos.
1. The ‘guns in the park’ fiasco?
I won’t go into great deal about the fallout here in terms, of what was or wasn’t said by councillors and the waste of good rate payer money to resolve that.
Basically, the Victoria police can wear guns in public places and I’m comfortable with that. In terms of a private security force with guns in a public park? That is ridiculous. That puts everyone in that public space at risk and raises anxiety unnecessarily. We’re a generally safe society, one of the safest in the world, so in summary, a complete over reaction.
2. What’s your view on Councillors decision to not release the Ms O’Brien report into inappropriate behaviour and conduct, would you have voted to publish the report for the ratepayers to view in an open and transparent manner?
Typical of the cloak and dagger operation in the current council group. A closed shop, black box operation that continues to disappoint in terms of transparency. This is a council group that has not changed a great deal in the past decade and clearly there are strong alliances. This has not benefited the community. For instance, the lack of transparency, a lack of proper consultation around a planning scheme and the list goes on.
My intention is to have a council with congenial debate and conversation between councillors and the public. This will take time. Considering the amount of dummy nominees purely putting their hand up to support the current group of councillors, change will take time.
At the very best there may only be a handful of new councilors but I hope this will be the ‘foot in the door’ moment and by the next election we can rally more like minded people, in terms of transparency and community consultation, that will put their hand up and run for election.
Feel free to forward or print my comments where you wish.
Thanks Nick!
Rodney

This is the response from Neil Brewster.
Hi Nick,
Here’s the short version.
1. What a joke. If your too scared to go to the park stay home or go to a amusement park or pool.
2. OMG what a disgrace. This is not released to try and save face as they are too embarrassed to let it get out. Their hiding their treatment of Lobo. It’s been requested via FOI but that can take 6 months. It will come out eventually.
Cheers.

This is a response from Phil De’Ath
Thanks Nick, feel free to post on the site you asked the questions on. Guns in the Park ,definitely against this crazy idea .What on earth has this country become . Its not a good look.I do not like private companies having access to guns in this setting. The O,Brien report MUST be allowed to be published . This is whats wrong with this Council .I have a long history associated with this Council via my late Father in law Robert Bury and am very aware of whats been going on and what needs to change . Thanks for the opportunity to answer your questions and hope I have been of assistance .There are some wonderful potential Councillors in this contest and I wish them also the very best.
