How many of them are showing up?

According to the website, all candidates (including all current Councillors) were invited were invited.
Seems to me any one who is seriously standing for election will be there. So that tells me the no shows are a waste of a vote.

My experience is the resident turnout is relatively poor so not fronting isn’t going to do much electoral damage.

I think this time round you’ll be surprised.
Residents are pissed off, they’ve learnt a lot about planning through the objection process (thank you Jamie for the zone imposition), are tired of Council doing nothing about traffic and parking or open space and sports facilities. Likewise with Heritage and Neighbourhood Character. And as for Council’s clandestine culture and exclusion of the community they’ve had enough.
They really want change. Re-electing the old guard is 2012 didn’t work and they don’t deserve another 4 year term. Residents want to know what the alternative is. The forums are a great idea and have resonated with the electorate.

I hope you’re right. I really do.
I certainly won’t be voting for any of the incumbents. That said, those I’ve spoken to mostly don’t give a rats.
The folk who post here are involved and active but that doesn’t translate into voting change. I readily recall that with all our huffing and puffing here last time most of the old tribe were returned. Some with increased majorities. And the one that got support here (Penhalluriack) was done like a dinner.
It pains me to say it but don’t expect much to change this time. Most people just don’t care about matters municipal.

Yep, know what you mean about 2012, an opportunity not taken up.
But I take heart, Jamie’s zone imposition hadn’t occurred nor had Councll sunk to the levels of secrecy or reached it’s current dizzing height of disregard for residents that it has now reached.
Neither had residents become so involved as they have over the last 4 years and gained a detailed knowledge of deficiences and dysfunctionality of the supposed representatives.
If significant change doesn’t occur residents have only themselves to blame.

Cr Esakoff made a trully amazing statement in the house when discussing the Princes development in Dandenomng Road that it did not matter if only 17 dewellings received their light and fresh air through means of a light well.
So the inference is that if one is too poor to afford a unit with external windows then it is ok to receive these basic human entitlement through a light well whicch may be up to twelve storeys down from the sky.. the point of inlet. Through the ages many town planners haVE

Anyone know the affiliations of Athanasopoulos?
I’d heard he was a progressive so figured he’d preference Davey but he’s gone Karslake and Box 2 and 3 respectively.
