Yes, only in GE, and I bet 100 to 1 the ratepayers will cough-up the cash for the change.

The audio states that council aka ratepayers will not be footing the bill. However, there are some other queries that are pertinent to this issue:
1. Is the contractor listed as a ‘preferred’ contractor by council?
2. What is their experience in installing such features? Was this checked out prior to the awarding of contract?
3. What was the associated costs for this contract?
4. Does ‘quality control’ even exist?

Was there a drawing or plan submitted or viewed before works started, it’s hard to believe there wasn’t. If the open space planners didn’t ask for, or review a plan or drawing they deserved the mess they got. It’s their fault, as they are the managers. Niall McDonagh tried hard to shift the blame to the contactor. I would like see the evidence to back-up his claim.
It also makes me wonder just how lax our open space planning are in other areas, like requesting other important heath and safety parameters from their contractors, like are the construction materials toxic free and safe for children to play on.
I suspect it’s anything will do here in GE because we don’t care.
It’s funny how little accidents open the doors to much bigger questions.
