We are committed to facilitating genuine debate within Glen Eira. Your views on planning, environment, open space, CEO and councillor performance matter.
When council employees or contractors are giving free plugs for private companies on their private websites, then something is very wrong in my view. Mr Todd’s statements about future purchasing by council are even more worrying given the large amount of money involved and the supposedly open and objective tender process.
I doubt there is a tender process. Gecko are the only one with a solution. Playing footy on a synthetic wicket covered with sand is no fun. The Glen Eira Council appears to have come up with a winner and you sink the boots in. Also the sand has to be cleaned out of the pitch thoroughly when the cricket season comes around. Any sand quickly scuffs a new ball.
You need to follow the money on this one. Didn’t Gecko turn all the median strips along North Road into artificial grass because Council argued that there was a safety risk! Couldn’t use a road sign like every other Council. Won’t be long before Caulfield Park is Geckoed. Pity Glen Eira does not have an Independent Audit Committee.
anon, once again you show you lack of understanding of governance. With such ignorance, you could be a Glen Eira Councillor. Keep up the ignorance and you will become Mayor.
Spruiking for Gecko by staff is not on. Whatever the ethical or even legal issues this brings up, perceptions of full 100% probity have to be maintained and they are not in this instance.
I agree neither a Council officer nor Council should endorse a product. Seems to me either the Council officer or Gecko or both have over stepped the mark here.
Council should insist that Gecko removes the inappropriate endorsement immediately and then consider if the Council Officer should be removed for failing to act in accordance with the officers code of conduct.

Follow the money back to Peter Todd. Newton would never be so stupid to implicate himself.
