it might be ok if i at least they were paying for the privelledge. I suspect the builder at the corner of Kokaribb and Neerim Roads has just taken the footpath to put the portables on. I think the council could get a few thousand dollars for the hoarding permit versus the hundreds of thousands that the developer is making from using the full land envelope. I very much doubt in this instance that the developer is paying anything at all for this footpath. Who cares about the danger is presenting for everyone else!
Council considers its Building Site Management Code of Practice to be adequate, and its staff don’t know the difference between an Asset Protection Permit and an Asset Consent Permit. The photos also show partial road closures, probably without a Road Closure Permit, and certainly no traffic management measures taken. For a couple of weeks Carnegie residents have had to endure dangerous partial road closure at corner of Neerim/Kokaribb, and just this Saturday while walking to the polling booth at Carnegie PS, there again the entire footpath on eastern side was closed off by a developer, forcing pedestrians onto the roadway. The BSMCoP needs to be much more comprehensive in reminding builders of their obligations under relevant legislation and by-laws, and Council should stop ignoring these hazards.
And the 2014 Award for Arrogance and Total Disregard goes to the MRC.
The public park in the centre is a carpark and the public address system can be heard 300 metres away from Kambrook Road. All so that the MRC can do a Christmas cash grab.
Good job the Auditor General slammed the Trustees for mismanagement – it’s really had an impact
Has the pile of materials got a “Materials on nature strip” permit?, by rights (GE Local Law) they should have one, if it remain there for longer than a day.
That permit is more honoured in the breach than the observance. Maybe one day someone will be injured as a result of council officers somnolence and they will sue the pants off them,
Just look at what we expect for public thoroughfare? The former path seems to have disappeared some time ago! Council just says in at the conclusion of the contract all will be ok. I knew a 22 year old pedestrian forced onto a tract though.roadway who was killed. All ok at the end of contract though!
