We are committed to facilitating genuine debate within Glen Eira. Your views on planning, environment, open space, CEO and councillor performance matter.
Magee makes matters worse. If the plebs are being subsidised by governments and with little cost to ratepayers, then the salary bill assumes even a bigger imposte on ratepayers.
We’ve provided some of the numbers for both ‘salaries’ and ‘contractors’ previously – “Residents need to bear in mind that the Leader’s figures on ’employee costs’ do NOT include another $28m that is paid out to contractors. Many of these ‘contractors’ are almost permanent fixtures at Glen Eira and hence may in everything (apart from name) be regarded as ’employees’ of council. Thus when $28m is added to the $67m, the combined total spent on personnel is astronomical and accounts for roughly 59% of council’s claimed income.”
Absolutely astonishing that 59% of Councils income is spent of staffing (employees and contractors) and this doesn’t include other Consultants providing specialist skills or legal advise that is beyond scope of the ever increasing staff.
I’m left wondering why Glen Eira needs more and more staff to administer ever diminishing services.
Gut aches from laughing so hard. Got the glen eira rag in letter box today and wow, Newton baby is taking credit for the rail upgrades cos council were so brilliant in advocating. Jesus, they can’t even get the bus to run along east boundary
Does anyone believe that Magee writes his own press releases. They include all the school crossing supervisors in the staff to bring down the average wage.
another planning permit for MRC. Doing some building around the glasshouse. Hope this doesnt affect the cinema or do you think this is what the VCAT thing is about. They would like to move it to the middle!

Ta Jimbo for confirming that GE is top heavy. Peasants get peanuts and their lordships get the cream.

Do you know if the salary bill includes the contractors – eg. Traffic Department and Parking Management are contracted out.

Magee is a Jack of all trades and has half a dozen professions. If he can’t read a prepared speech how could he write his own press release?
