Funny how they lopped off the top 3 or 4 stories in the picture.

A full page ad trying to guild the lily would have cost a pretty penny but compared to the millions spent on 19 storeys plus being tax deductible it is nothing.

A key question is whether there is a loophole that can be exploited to remove all height constraints, or whether the 9m height limit for sloping sites in Neighbourhood Residential Zone applies. The Application euphemistically refers to the tower as being for “Independent Living Units”, and the plans show they contain kitchen, bathroom, and ensuite, and surely meet the definition of “Dwelling”. Why does the applicant, State Government, and Council consider this element of the project not to be dwellings or a residential building?

“Glen Eira Council acting planning and place director Keith Franklyn confirmed some components of the proposal were exempt from the mandatory maximum height limit set under the Neighbourhood Residential Zone.” Would have been more informative if Keith had identified which components he believed were exempt and why.

Good suggestion. Always the possibility that he did and the Leader didn’t bother including his comments. I doubt that somehow.

Terrific turnout last night. Would say well over 200 people. Developer came along with their honchos (6). Resident presenters spoke really well. Delahunty wasn’t too great. Went til late which is better than what Lipshutz used to do. Didn’t see Silver, Esakoff, or Davey present.

Any clarity about what elements of the project Council considers exempt from the 8m/9m height limit in NRZ and why?
