Wynne’s announcement of his ‘vision’ for Plan Melbourne continues the Matthew Guy tradition of:
- releasing major news late on the eve of a weekend or long weekend
- misleading and deceptive spin aimed at the uninformed and ignorant
- no documents that provide the full details – ie nothing on the department’s website as to the actual amendments
- 8 months to ‘consider’ the advisory committee’s report that remains ‘secret’
Result? Developers and their cohorts continue to exert undue influence to the detriment of communities!

Lib or Lab cut from the same cloth

Apart from these two Lib and Lab parties there is no one to hold them accountable. It takes a term to see the destructions caused by one term lib and the other term lab. Therefore there is an urgent need to have a new party to hold the current two bluffing one in line with half a dozen independents. Just a thought.

Anyone able to confirm the rumour that Elsternwick is the site for next series of Block?
March 13, 2017 at 3:51 PM
Yes, a 3000 square metre site that should have been acquired by Council for badly needed open space in the area.

Just hog wash written by the developers to cover the growing concern over development. None of the rubbish from Wynne will be enforceable. And VCAT will go on and on handed down its pro-development ruling from on high.
Developer are now the biggest single source or group donating to political parties, and I think they just got their pay-back 100 fold from Wynne’s latest orchestrated gut wrenching kowtowing to the big end of towns money making machine.
Two party political systems are the most undemocratic corrupt systems going anywhere outside of the third world.

Michael Buxton was on the Faine show. Made sense and blamed governments for lack of planning and leaving it all to market forces. This new plan is not a solution. It is more of the same only ten times worse.

Anyone notice they were using the middle of the racecourse for a fair. Wonder if they asked Southwick

Labor Lie Low next Vic State elections. The major parties have made rate payers weep. Time & Tide waits no more.

I’m voting for the sex party next election.

they will really screw you

I started reading the plan Melbourne paper and gave up in disgust. It is your typical bureaucratic rubbish. Plenty of words, slogans, but saying nothing. Not one decent bit of information to get one’s teeth into.

The devil will be in the detail. However, judging only from the newspaper reports this is a total sellout to developers. The earlier better apartments decisions by Wynne was a foretaste of this latest news. Combined I see them as giving a full carte blanche to developers everywhere. It is not inconceivable that the raising of the height limits to 9 metres will mean 3 storeys and the abolition of a 2 dwelling maximum in neighbourhoods will mean 3 or 4 or even five apartments per block, depending on their size. Glen Eira has already granted permits for less than 200 square metres in subdivisions. This plays right into their hands. The whole business is disgraceful.

This “refresh” is yet another kick in the guts to local residents. Looks like 3 stories will be crammed into Neighbourhood Residential Zones (NRZ) along with unlimited numbers of dwellings on one site. Dogs Boxes are to be the new norm. How on earth will the infrastructure such as roads and rail line cope? Shorely it’s time for a major cut to the excessive immigration rate that is feeding all of this.

In the future the sewage and stormwater systems will be overloaded. Going to be a right old mess. The Elwood canal is already heaving when it rains.

It has all to do with increase in revenue from rates. The rates which Council gets from each property owner is nothing compared to rates that the Council stands to gain from new developments. The parking joke is a total balls up and gives another channel to make money issuing infringement notices.
