We are committed to facilitating genuine debate within Glen Eira. Your views on planning, environment, open space, CEO and councillor performance matter.
VCAT Advocate? Do other Council’s have one of these? Is this required because of the high number of VCAT disputes? What about some more policies to guide direction at VCAT? What about a fair dinkum VCAT review in the Council agenda? Hope that this is genuine and not a smokescreen? Why not a public statement re this huge investment?
Investment is worthwhile if good staff are appointed. But, and a huge but, is why wasn’t this done years ago and why now when the structure planning stuff is supposed to already be on its last legs?
Good point Macca, I bet they’re expecting a huge rush of of developments once the developers get their wish list past our sleepy councillors. It will be boomtime on steroids, 13 stories here 8 stories there, and goodness know what Infrastructure Victoria in partnership with our lot of fresh faced newby’s will let through on the East Village site.
I think it’s only fitting that Glen Eira council issues free hardhats, fluro vests & steel-capped boots to every residents, making it compulsory to wear them when out walking, as we are now; or soon will be one very large and continuous building site.
Interesting resource. The database link allows a search of all currently under construction. Might be an interesting exercise to put them up on the blog for readers to confirm how accurate it is and how it compares to Council’s claims.

Good to see that planning is being beefed up, hopefully more action much quicker with a better resident focus. Wait and see though.
