We’ve commented before on the secrecy which surrounds the Glen Eira submission to the Ministerial Planning Scheme Review. Council has no plan to release their submission to the general public as revealed in the response to a public question on Tuesday night. The submission will merely be sent to the questioner! We therefore assume that it will not be published on the website, there will be no discussion in any open forum, and nor will we be informed of any responses to this submission. Secrecy for whatever reason must be maintained!
By way of contrast, we provide links below to the following submissions from various councils – none of which appear to have had any problem with tabling their drafts at full council meetings, nor in making their submissions freely available to ratepayers. Glen Eira just continues along in its merry way completely out of step with other councils and with no regard for openness, transparency and accountability.

There are countless other councils that have published their submissions, but the above should suffice for the moment.

The answer maybe, if the Planning Submission is anything like their submission to the VEAC Melbourne Met Review last year, they well maybe to embarrassed to make it public.
Or maybe this time around they got a local real estate agent to write the submission, and Esacoff cut & pasted it to the mayors letterhead signed and sent it.

Think your almost correct, Anon – except I would add the MRC and developers to the list of those consulted.
To the questioner – when you receive your copy could you please forward it to GEDebates, together with the date received, so that this website can once again do the job of Council, ie. inform residents and provide an open forum for discussion.

You are being unreasonable they used a number of real estate agents. Got to be fair you know. No favouritism here.

Thank you for putting these up. I’ve had a very quick scan of them and whilst there are probably criticisms that could be levelled on a much closer reading, the thing that has impressed me is the number of times that some of these submissions actually mention “community” and the need for their input. If the Glen Eira submission ever surfaces it will be good to compare and to see if this word is ever mentioned and in what context.

The number one reason for Newton not being re-appointed as the CEO is that he has know idea of community. Never has never will, he is completely (Moderators: word deleted).
