Buried in the fine print of several of these documents, some truths are finally revealed. Residents were repeatedly told by council and the MRC that the project envisaged 1200 dwellings, plus commercial and retail areas. It then burgeoned into 1500 units. Now we are looking at the possibility of 2040 of which the vast and overwhelming majority are SINGLE BEDROOM apartments! We can only wait with baited breath for stages 4 onwards, when height for the remaining buildings are revealed.
Below are the figures taken directly from the ‘Precinct Plan’ and the argument is that this is still in line with the Incorporated Plan!!!!! What bunkum and what collusion!

That ain’t no village, it is a genuine slum. I cannot believe that only 4 out of 9 Councillors voted for it, yet it was still approved. Democracy is dead in Glen Eira thanks to Pilling, Esakoff, Lipshutz and Hyams.

Against were Penhalluriack, Forge, Magee, Lobo and Tang. But Newton called it a conflict and ruled their votes out. Blame him if you want but gee you have to admire his cunning on this development. He always said he would find a way to push it through and he did.

Who voted for the MRC to get what they wanted, Esakoff, Lipshutz ,Hyams. And who are the new trustees? MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I can only see one good outcome to all of this. It sits smack in the middle of Camden ward. Once building starts and residents all around see what is happening to traffic, floods, eyesores, and decreasing open space, then Lipshutz Sounness and Delahunty can kiss their reelection hopes goodbye.

62 trees to go in this section alone.

62 trees to go, our Green hero Pilling will vote for that, and Sounous will second it

The Greens should be charged for false and misleading conduct.

If they were a Corporation they would be but as a political party they are exempt from the ACCC wrath. However, I do not know how Pilling lives with himself. Was being Mayor worth betraying ones own morals and beliefs?

Anyone that thinks the GE Council could have stopped this development is living in Noddyland. There is always a way around councils if you have mates and deep pockets.
January 29, 2014 at 3:44 PM
Maybe, maybe not. But at the very least they could have got major concessions out of both the MRC and the State Government.
Minimally from the MRC they could have got removal of training from the centre of the racecourse, a dramatic increase in the on site parking provisions, payment for the traffic management and drainage works.
Minimally from the State Government they could have got grade separation for the Frankston and Dandenong/Cranborne Lines.
At the very least – and this mob didn’t even do that.

Ever looked at what Moonee Valley Council is doing for their racing club development? Chalk and cheese!!!!! A MVC are fighting a humungous battle but have made huge in roads into the orginal proposal. Unlike Glen Eira Council, who complements of Pilling, Esakoff, Hyams and Lipshutz, just rolled over and gave them everything they wanted.
January 29, 2014 at 6:55 PM
This is even worse than first anticipated. Amendment C111 has now allowed balconies and other works to encroach onto what was supposed to be non-negotiable in terms of setbacks. I can see balconies overhanging the buildings and making a mockery of set backs. All of this was conveniently done by council and passed.
Anonymous is absolutely correct when he/she writes that in comparison to Moonee Valley Council, Glen Eira has not lifted a finger to help residents. Instead they have bent over backwards to ensure that the MRC gets every single thing they want. The entire process is an outrage and a sham.

Compliments of Pilling, Esakoff, Hyams, Lipshutz and CEO Newton.
Payback =
Pilling gets to be Mayor
Lipshutz gets to be Deputy Mayor and a Trustee of the Racecourse
Hyams gets to be Mayor twice and a Trustee
Esakoff gets to be a Trustee and no doubt a 4th term as Mayor.
CEO Newton gets a 5 year contract (2 years beyond the term of the current pathetic Councillors)
Until residents get rid on these 5 and replace them with Councillors with integrity who actually believe they represent the residents then the residents have only themselves to blame.

Agree but let’s face it, they have the Jewish vote who act as a cartel and they are unlikely to be voted out. Time to move on from the MRC development.
January 29, 2014 at 11:11 PM
Moving on is not an option. People living in Kambrook, Newstead and the other streets are going to have this monstrosity on their doorsteps and it will take 15 years to finish. They can’t move on but are stuck with this. Council and our useless councillors should be reminded of what they’ve done every single day until they are booted out. Besides, I’d say that quite a few jewish residents live in this area too, so I don’t reckon too many of them would be that impressed with what’s going to happen.

Welcome to West Dandenong

A key question is whether the Development Plan is generally in accordance with the Incorporated Plan, and for the reasons above [and many more] it’s clear that the submitted Development Plan is not generally in accordance. It could still be approved of course, just by redefining the meaning of “generally in accordance” to something utterly useless. The Minister against Planning, at the urging of Council, has already started the move in that direction by emphasizing that the building envelope in the Development Plan can exceed the envelope in the Incorporated Plan. It’s now up to the MRC’s representatives in Whitehall.

I’m no expert in car parking (can hardly park my own car properly) but I still cannot see how 3000+ cars can be parked in the course centre and then efficiently exited at the meeting’s end – if I am correct there is only one tunnel existing and/or planned. If you allow (say) 10 cars per minute to exit, and that is allowing for delays caused by normal external local traffic, then it looks like about 5 hours to clear a full car park. Even a wait of one hour would deter most people from parking there, and guess where they will go! As well, my Morris Minor is prone to boil and conk out in long delays, so don’t travel behind me into the tunnel – or at the very least bring an oxygen bottle.
If my assumptions are incorrect then I’d really like an officially knowledgeable person to correct me, and you.
