We’ve received several sets of photographs from alert residents. Once again, safety and enforcing the law would seem to be beyond council’s priorities. What is also unacceptable is that accompanying one of these photos was this comment in response to the fact that the image was not 100% clear – I have been physically threatened by a truck driver illegally parked on same location before and chased up the street with him demanding my phone to remove the photo. I am very wary of being seen taking photos. Whilst residents report countless incidents, nothing changes. Developers own the streets, footpaths, and driveways!
These two photos show illegal parking right on the kerb thereby forcing drivers making a left hand turn smack into the middle of the road and possible oncoming traffic –
Next there is the illegal parking facing the wrong side of the road plus another illegal parking across a resident’s driveway.

A local shopkeeper told me that they found out from council that there are only 3 parking officers. Crazy when this kind of stuff is going on. Use your brains for once. Employ another 10 and fine each bastard several times a day. Council would be rolling in money then. Better than spending it on top brass who sit in their offices and spend days writing crappy letters to residents.

Ah, more photo’s of Neerim Road, Carnegie. Do you think someone should write to Council to advise them that Carnegie is part of Glen Eira and that since Council is totally and unequivocally responsible for parking and public safety it had better get off it’s big fat arse and do something before someone (pedestrian or cyclist) hurt.
By the way does anyone know just what the Administration got against Carnegie? Clearly Council’s abject failure to monitor construction sites, public safety and parking in Carnegie is caused by something other than sloth.

I agree, cannot understand why so many people want to live there.

Because whoever buys it (overseas investors or negative gearers) doesn’t give a shit about anything other than parking their $’s. The ones I feel sorry for are the one’s
. who are condemned to live in this shit because they can’t afford better and have to live somewhere and
. who bought into these areas yonks ago and are willingly to accept change but by Council’s failure to properly plan are facing an onsaught.

I have lived in carnegie since the early 80’s – I do not accept what council is doing to Carnegie, I have fought their appalling lack of planning, I do not willingly accept this development onslaught – I have done all I can do but am left with no where to go because the people who are supposed to represent residents have actively done all they can not to do so – they have done everything to make sure that developers can rape our suburb – We have to vote them out – Does anyone reading this blog want to stand against these non-representatives at the next elections???

Anon
Some people have lived in Carnegie for 30 plus years – THAT IS WHY WE WANT TO LIVE HERE – because we have, we do and it is our home

At present Carnegie population density is in the mid 40’s/sqkm, but if it continues like this then all suburbs in Rosstown Ward except Caulfield South will be nearly double that at high 70’s/sqkm. Has anybody pointed out this to the new Mayor Cr Pilling and Deputy Mayor Cr Okotel, who live in these suburbs? Can they do something about that to moderate the anticipated population and traffic growth with degraded amenity in these suburbs?

you mean Ha not sqkm surely that is 100 times worse density!

People solely responsible to destroy our suburb are Esakoff,Pilling and O’Kotell.
The head of the destruction is Pilling who is back to complete the job he is good for!

No, you are wrong. Every single councillor is destroying this suburb and every other suburb when they let Newton and Akehurst get away with the new zones and without telling anyone that they were doing it with the support of that weasel Hyams and Lipshutz in the background. All of guilty of ignoring residents.

I am fed up with what is happening not only in Carnegie (mind you you are getting the raw end of the deal), but across Glen Eira. We voted the Councillors in, how can we now make them accountable for these new zones…………..and more importantly how can the public voice their concern with regards getting the Zones changed.
It is Ok to say wait for the next election some 12 months away, we need to implement the change now – (then in 12 months we may see the changes take effect).
I don’t know much about Planning Schemes, VCAT and all the tripe that goes with it, I don’t know much about Politics, I am just a hard working family person who has lived in East Bentleigh for over 25 years. I would love to get the zones changed…………..but I really don’t know the best place to start.
The people behind this site obviously are very talented in the areas mentioned above, could we all work together to make it happen??
All those that write a comment stating that we should stand for council if we are concerned etc…..but the way everyone is putting the Councillors through the ringer, it would not be everyone’s cup of tea!!!
One councillor cannot change the outcome, we need the “majority” of councillors willing to stand up and make the change. Where to from here? Constructive criticism only need reply to this please.
