Apologies to the author for our misquoting this line in our heading. However here is a very carefully worded council Media Release designed no doubt to deflect recent public criticism of the Lipshutz/Hyams’ sponsored ‘guns in parks’ fiasco. Yet, it is the wording itself which only succeeds in raising numerous questions –
- The media release refers to ‘current’ and ‘future’ events. What of PAST events – ie the Shabbat Project and (possibly) Chanukah in the Park?
- The media release speaks of ‘administration’ of the Firearms Act? Surely ‘administration’ of an Act is distinct from seeking permission for licences? So the question becomes – did council seek permission from the ‘commissioner’, ‘police’ or anybody else with authority?

A simple question, how does this gel with the radio interviews of Delahunty (people have a right to know) and Pilling (we could have done it better)?

Simple answer to a simple question, it doesn’t.
Not surprisingly (except to anyone other than the Administration or Councillors, or the ultra conservative members of the Jewish Community) serious damage control is at work.
Good on ya residents, keep up the good work. But just remember the guns issue is only the tipping point in issues of how appallingly Glen Eira is governed and how appallingly you are represented by those you elected to represent you.

Don’t know if this is intentional but the Leader photo of Hyams must go down as a classic. A big fake cheesy grin whilst looking down on all his constituents. Perfect summation!

“Chanukah lights up Melbourne”, the photo looked liked the taliban had moved in. Still is good to see good folk enjoying themselves in safety.
Expect for the Tightrope Walker, highwire act always carry a risk, as Lipshutz and Hyams would have learnt, leave it to the experts

That two line statement would be the most work Paul Burke has done all year.
I wonder what he has got planned for the coming year. Maybe best not to have plan with a new boss coming in.
Can we extrapolate for that brief statement that the Town Hall Taliban didn’t get their new year wish to carry their uzi’s?
I remember going to the first council meeting run by the Kennett appointed commissioners, and there for the first time was a armed security guard at the doorway, the commissioner copped a fair whack of verbal feedback on that night, about the loss of democracy at the point of a gun. I believe that armed guard still remains at council meeting.

The gang will try their best to get their paws on whoever the CEO. It would be wise Will the new CEO be resident friendly or will the CEO be gagged by the Councillors. A sell out shows beginning 2016.

Delahunty has done well by exposing Hyams and Lipstick. The exposure of Hyams to the idiotic push for guns after the residential zones is definitely the last stainless steel nail on the
coffin. The grin on his face is a fake one made to show he is a nice person. A man with many masks one for each occasion. Again Delahunty will go down in GE history if she can continue more and more to expose the gang or else she will have no chance to be a MP in Caulfield. Go Delahunty go get them and make sure to stand for residents and that is why you joined the Council. You have more to show until next Council elections in 2016.

What a great letter by Carol Stals. Developer greed is no doubt a primary driver. So too is council greed and indifference.

There is a fair bit of resident greed mixed up in all this development
