Not In Glen Eira

Pigs will fly before this happens in Glen Eira.
Firstly, Glen Eira is not interested in what residents think or want. Open, transparent, accountable and responsive are nothing more that buzz words to be bandied about.
Secondly, Councillors really dislike informal group discussions because their lack of detailed knowledge becomes readily apparent.

How true! An open Q and A would provide amusement galore when residents would be more informed than councillors. Any guesses out there on which councillors have even bothered to read the planning scheme?

Pretty much got Macca, except that I doubt residents would find much amusement in quickly realizing that Council’s claimed planning expertise is nothing more than bullshit.
Go to any Planning Conference,
. the Councillor chairing the meeting knows buggar all about the permit application being discussed and is more concerned about enforcing archaic meeting procedures (ie. shielding the attending the planning officer) than encouraging resident input and
. the Council Planning Officer who has “supposedly” been dealing with the application for months either has to “look into it”‘, or looks like a kangaroo in the headlights, when residents raise issues.
While examples abound, the 9 stories on the huge former Broadbents site in Centre Road is the most recent example.
. Firstly, Lipshutz threatening to close the meeting down (several times) because of residents outcries of “you have wasted our time” when Council announced that the meeting was essentially useless because Council had failed to meet the statutory 60 day (2 months!!!) response time deadline.
. Secondly, Rocky Camera, Manager of Planning!!!!, looking stunned when residents pointed out that only vehicles of a sedan type would be able to access the underground carpark because of the height limitations imposed by the positioning carpark ventilation exhaust vent above the carpark access point.
Need more be added?

What a good idea. I was stunned when I saw it because it sounded so out of character for Glen Eira. Then I clicked on the link and realised it was from a more progressive council, Moonee Valley.

Patience, it won’t be long that Glen Eira Council will follow Mooney Valley. There is a talk that new CEO is very much interested in public consultation and is forward to talking to all residents. The gang will try to silence her. Let’s wait and see the power of the new CEO.

Sorry. I ain’t that optimistic since the appointment w as unanimous and those anti democratic coucillors voted for her.

Glen Eira Council has already exhausted residents’ patience.
Just compare Moonee Valley Council’s exhaustive review of the proposed development of the Moonee Valley Racecourse with Glen Eira’s double dealing and rubber stamping of the Caulfield Village Development. Very much a case of fight tooth and nail vs. give ’em what they want.
Oh and by the way, the new CEO, if she is truly interested in public consultation, has a hell of battle on her hands in trying to change the anti-resident culture that Andrew Newton spent years creating in the Administration and in Councillors.

Hmmmmm that will be very interesting. It will be a sold out circus. Time to name councillors in circus

That tree chopping, historical trashing traitor Pilling will make doubly sure nothing like this would ever happen in Glen Eira

What a frinking disgrace to Greens party.

Pilling’s not a Green, he was tossed out years ago for being a conservative, but he is as you mentioned still a disgrace
