I’m very conflicted. Can’t make up my mind if the state’s worst incompetents are running the show or the most devious and stupid. Probably a combination of all three.

Last year I asked Council who was responsible for the accuracy of information published on its website. The Mayor refused to say, as is the normal practice of that office. So despite the Local Government Act requiring Council to maintain a website, and despite their Councillors’ Code of Conduct requiring honesty (eg avoiding statements or actions that will or are likely to mislead or deceive), it appears nobody is responsible.

They’ve spent a fortune on a new website. Makes everything look very pretty. Content and honesty last consideration.

Maybe they mean they have borrowings but no debt, because they have enough black ink to cover their red ink. What else could they possibly mean.

If pressed, Council is bound to quodlibetificate on the meaning of “debt-free”.
