hey look they left a few dead leaves, the sustainability dept, in GE is full of frauds. It’s clearly bussiness as usual. Kill everything for private profit and we help you achieve that.
Has Council worked out whether it is going to remove the street trees as well to facilitate crossovers, or just allow the developer to cut the tree roots? [Some of us will remember the loss of street trees in Gardeners Rd East Bentleigh to install additional carparking–it wasn’t supposed to happen, but once they cut tree roots, it did.]
I remember meeting, by chance, the independent arborist the council had consulted after a major storm brought down several of the weakened trees you mentioned. We spoke about what had happened, and he told me the outcome was exactly what he had predicted in his report.
Council public relations staff play games with trees. They steer councillors and keep adverse expert reports out of view. The bigger question is whether GE will meet its urban forest strategy targets. In my view, that is highly doubtful.
So sad. Nothing seems to have changed. Driving around moonscaping is still going on everywhere. I doubt that so many sites didn’t have at least one tree worth saving.
