From today’s Caulfield Leader –
We anticipate that once the agenda comes out, residents will once again find the following sentence – Council proposes to retain the existing Council Plan
As a memory refresher we invite readers to peruse our comments from years ago and to consider whether anything has really changed in this council.

Over the years many people have put in submissions where they found that the council plan was lacking in many areas and that there was no valid link between goals, strategies and measures. It would be good if things were improved this time around.
The other bone of contention is why Glen Eira insists on putting up a ten year plan instead of what the legislation says should be a 4 year plan. Half of the rates put into these ten year plans don’t eventuate (like a drop to 4.5% rate increase). I think it’s all political. Councillors sign off for ten years and this gives Newton the authority to do as he likes because it has been passed by council. Four years is the norm and that should be adhered to. It’s ridiculous to lock in the next ten years when no decent figures are provided so that residents can evaluate something properly.

We were paying $734 for rates in 2008. Last year it got up to a smidgeon below $1700. Okay, some people are probably paying more but over 100% increase is highway robbery.

And we all thought Ned Kelly was hanged dead. (MODERATORS: sentence deleted)
