Hey Neil where were you when the frisbee group including someone’s very privileged son were allowed to get away with playing without a permit?

“Respect for women is not negotiable”. Unless the target is a vocal critic of council. I haven’t forgotten bitchgate and that 7 councillors thought it acceptable. Does Cr Pilling need reminding he condoned the behaviour?

elevated lines are the best way. Space underneath is put to good use,(lets face it, a hole in the ground is dead space) plugs gaps in parkland distribution, less disruption to travellers and residents during construction, less trees cut down, less space for graffiti, provision for extra tracks, less noise with the use of soundbarriers and new design of the elevated sections (for example, in Hong Kong they built an elevated line with noise reduction joints,) I would have loved this in bentleigh.

I agree, the concept has some appeal, however, I am way less trusting than you. Somehow, I figure that if you can give an estimate of $1.6b, it should be based on something like height, widths and these should be made available for public scrutiny. I also figure that you should be able to make a valid business case for elevated vs. underground but thats gone missing in action somehow.
So unless the government is going provide the detailed information rather than nebulous statements accompanied by glossy artistic impressions then the public is quite right to demand it.

The appalling lack of information from the State Government and LXRA concerning the plan for Dandenong rail corridor continues. It seems the Government panicked, making its “announceable” before it was ready due to bad publicity over other stuffups. Those of us who are deeply analytical want details, information, plans, costings, a rationale for each decision, evidence alternatives were considered, results of modelling, and a planning horizon that extends beyond the next election.
The government is currently pitching at the other end of the spectrum, the “emotional intelligence” end, where the glossy brochures and slick video belong. On top of that we have Kevin Devlin revealing that consultation is pointless. Fortunately there is a cheaper alternative to skyrail, which is to leave level crossings where they are. Council’s traffic engineers doesn’t think it is necessary and VCAT agrees.
A workmate mentioned to me today that there is a greek proverb covering the situation. Roughly translated, “No matter how much sugar you put on shit, it doesn’t become a cookie”.

Elevated rail releases unusable Open Space for some community use.
I just signed the petition, “No More Train Trenches.”
I think this is important. Will you sign it too?

Thanks but no thanks.
I might sign if the government presented an objective analysis the advantage/disadvantages of elevated vs. underground and gave me enough information to form an opinion.
But since they won’t, I think they should not proceed with either option because it’s pretty darn clear they haven’t done the appropriate analysis. Not being able or willing to substantiate a costing of $1.6bn says all I need to know at this stage.

I heard Andrews on ABC radio, saying that the skyrail was canvassed at the community consultation events, (I was there and it was not) he has either been mislead by his advisors or he is turning out to be just as loose with the truth and as desperate as his counterparts were with the East-West tunnel debacle.
Bring on the DD Mr Andrews and let the commoners decide if you’re a fit and proper person to continue to be our so called leader.

If governments do nothing – a la Baillieu and Napthine – they get criticised. No projects, no infrastructure, no vision. Now we have a government that actually has a vision and projects and infrastructure work on the go. And guess what? They get criticised.
February 16, 2016 at 8:19 PM
Criticised!!!! Utter bull!!!! What they are being asked for is exactly what they wanted for the East West Link.
All they have to do is provide the info for public scrutiny. If they can cost it, the info should be readily available.

The North Rd and Gardiner boom gates removal was financed from the budget delivered under the previous government. They may not have done much but they did these two.

The pretty pictures keep coming with the animated version of the sky rail. I don’t call this information.

These soccer players would be practicing letting off flares and taking their shirts off in preparation for attending A League matches.

I see the Premier has made further preposterous statements in today’s Age. What does he think “the community” is? LXRA didn’t discuss elevated designs with me, and they still haven’t responded to my feedback or answered the questions I asked. I haven’t had a one-on-one talk with “authorities” even after the intervention of my MP to get them to contact me. If only politicians could admit to making mistakes or say something on the lines of “we didn’t think of that” or “yes, we probably should have done it a bit differently”. Instead we get this insulting treatment from a Premier that doesn’t represent me. Day 12 and still no information.
