Great opportunity to combine Elsternwick squandered. All going to plan eh?

That puts the likely appearance of changes to the Planning Scheme as a result of the “Review” being after the next State election. In the meantime the discretionary height limits are meaningless since VCAT doesn’t respect them. Aidan Mullen has criticized these DDOs too, arguing they weren’t strategically justified. Nobody at a decision-making level appears too fussed about delivering reasonable amenity outcomes to residents.

Why should they care or be reasonable, as most do not live in GE and therefore would be happy to see less development in the areas where they personally live in, their rationale being the more development in Glen Eira the less elsewhere will be needed.

Greed speculation and corruption with Melbourne’s planning has built a unsustainable ratrace and Glen Eira has become King Rat.

How difficult would it be to detail the number of developments, their heights and if possible exemptions given for parking spaces in Glen Eira – a comparison under the leadership of former Planning Minister M. Guy and present Planning Minister R. Wynn?
