We are committed to facilitating genuine debate within Glen Eira. Your views on planning, environment, open space, CEO and councillor performance matter.
This is crazy stuff. People living in Gordon street won’t have any access to their homes except via going down Glen Huntly road and then turning right. Then there is those people living in Sinclair that will have to go into a residential St Georges or the top part of Gordon to get out and into their homes.
Why are we to have a jewish quarter by blocking streets when they represent only 2% of Glen Eira community? The Indian and Chinese community represent more than almost 15% YET THEY don’t have a dedicated space. What about the indigenous community we hear all the time at council meetings; the Italian/Greek/Asian/Australian etc community do they have dedicated spaces, no so, grow up and loose your self importance; COULD IT BE THE STRONG JEWISH COMMUNITY REPRESENTATION ON COUNCIL ARE USING THEIR NUMBERS!!! YOU BET YA!
Come on, be fair to the WHOLE community and loose the bias. You get more respect by being fair. This is political correctness being abused to favour one sector of the community who are a minority against the majority. Lets ask the Jewish councillors to abstain from this vote and hold the voting by the others in private and then see what happens. This action will only lead to more anti sematic feelings within the community.
And the Asian, Greek, Indigenous & Indian community represent how much? If you are so confident publish the census break down, then we can have a real discussion, once again half truths? ….Their is no way the Jewish community represents 17% in the total Glen Eira region, yes if you look at Caulfield in isolation. You insult the publics intelligence
Scroll down to ‘religious affiliation’ and you will find the figure of 16.8% for the entire municipality. It is probably even higher for Caulfield/Elsternwick. The only religion that is higher is ‘catholic’ but whether those who describe themselves as such are English, Asian, or from Timbuktu is impossible to tell. As for ethnic breakdown then that is something entirely different – it is not necessarily about religion. An Indian could belong to a variety of religions from Christian, to Hindu, etc.
No you are trying to manipulate Jewish sediment against racial numbers, try doing something for the MAJORITY of people who voted for YOU in Glen Eira. If you only represent the Jewish community; then say so? You still have not revealed your numbers that I requested (RACE not religion). PATHETIC!!!!

According to the 2016 Census, the proportion of Jewish residents is about 17% (declared) and not the 2% you indicate

If you cannot accept what the census provides as ‘facts’, then there is no point in pursuing this further.
